Terms of Service

1. Agreement
By purchasing or using TranscribeLocal ("the Software"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not purchase or use the Software.
2. License Grant
Upon purchase, you are granted a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use TranscribeLocal on your personal devices. This license is for a single user. You may install the Software on multiple devices that you own and use personally.
3. Restrictions
You may not:
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the Software or your license key
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
- Share your license key with others
- Use the Software for any unlawful purpose
4. Payment & Merchant of Record
Payments are processed by Paddle.com, who acts as the Merchant of Record for all purchases. Paddle handles all payment processing, tax collection, invoicing, and compliance with local tax regulations. By making a purchase, you also agree to Paddle's Terms.
5. Refund Policy
We offer a 14-day refund policy from the date of purchase, no questions asked. To request a refund, contact us at mthistle@gmail.com with your order details. Refunds are processed through Paddle.
6. Updates
Your license includes free updates to the Software. We may release updates at our discretion but are not obligated to provide updates, new features, or ongoing support.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be error-free or uninterrupted.
8. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the author or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the use of the Software. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the Software.
9. Third-Party Software
TranscribeLocal incorporates open-source components including OpenAI's Whisper model (MIT License) and Apple's MLX framework. These components are subject to their own respective licenses.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
